In February 2025, ISCRR attended the farewell celebrations of John Moran, outgoing Director of Mental Health Strategy and Coordination, at WorkSafe Victoria.
John has always been passionate about driving change that improves the mental health of the community. His role was established following the launch of WorkSafe’s 2021-2024 Mental Health Strategy, which focuses on preventing mental injury, supporting affected workers, and fostering mentally healthy workplaces.
As a founding member of headspace, the national youth mental health initiative, and with over 20 years in senior executive roles in mental health, John has been instrumental in expanding treatment access and advancing research-based mental health services.
Irene Krishnan (now Acting Director, Mental Health Strategy and Coordination) was impressed with John’s passion for leaning in and doing the hard stuff, such as addressing mental health in our frontline workers with Victoria Police. “Why wouldn’t we?” was John’s response.
ISCRR is immensely grateful for intersecting with John and his team, for their input in projects spanning across all spheres of workplace mental health.
ISCRR wishes John Moran well as he focuses on health and heads into a “rewiring” stage of his life (i.e., retiring but not yet ready to stop!)
