ISCRR recently attended the Australian and New Zealand Society of Occupational Medicine (ANZSOM)’s Annual Scientific Meeting and contributed a paper on “Lumbar spinal fusion surgery outcomes in a cohort of injured workers in the Victorian workers’ compensation system”.
Congratulations to ISCRR Research Lead Dr Janine McMillan who won the David Goddard Best Paper Award at the conference. The paper identified several specific pre-operative factors associated with poor lumbar spinal fusion outcomes for workers’ compensation patients, highlighting in particular that opioid management before and after surgery needs urgent review.
The award was presented by Dr Andrew Lingwood (left) and Dr Dominic Yong (right), Federal President of ANZSOM.
